Ted Lazakis, owner and CEO of Alpha Tekniko, participated in an international session of ISO’s Technical Committee 173/Work Group 11 in Helsinki, Finland in early February 2020. Ted has been an active member from the beginning of this vital worldwide effort to accurately characterize hospital mattresses so caregivers can make more informed decisions when they select them for their patients. The Work Group is immersed in selecting, developing and validating test methods in support of the new ISO standard series 20342, which covers requirements for “assistive products for tissue integrity when lying down.”
